The Need For a Opioid Vaccine
With opioid abuse continuing to be a worldwide issue, people continue to seek out new methods of treatment. One possible treatment method which has been in the works and showed promising results is an opioid vaccine.
Dr. Kim Janda, a chemist at the Scripps Research Institute, has been developing the vaccine which could help prevent relapse and make long-term recovery more achievable. He explains, “The opioid epidemic is huge. It’s real and it’s not going away. It’s a very hard addiction to break. I think whatever ways we can look at stopping it is important.”
