Bernie Sanders is on a mission to lower the price of prescription drugs in an attempt to make medicine more affordable. Earlier this month, he introduced a bill which would do a number of things to reduce this rising issue. Sanders’ bill would do the following:
- allow Medicare the power to negotiate prices of pharmaceuticals
- require drug companies to provide back up their prices with proof
- require drug companies to submit annual reports to the government sharing information on pricing
- require drug companies to disclose any federal benefits they have received
“There is no rational reason why Americans should pay by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs,” said Sanders.
