Anxiety Drug Overdoes

The amount of anxiety drug overdoses in the U.S. is at an all-time high, according to a new study from researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania. Some of the most well-known drugs in this group include Valium, Xanax, and Librium and they are most commonly used for insomnia, mood disorders, and anxiety.

The study found that the number of prescriptions tripled between 1996 and 2013 but the number of overdoses quadrupled during that time. There is no immediate explanation for the overdoses. However, researchers suggested it might be a result of combining the drugs with opioids and alcohol.

Also, the quantity doubles which suggests that people are either using twice as much as they should be of using the drugs for a longer duration, both which increase the risk of overdose.
